The Operations Bureau is commanded by Captain Jim Macedo
Lieutenant Dave Seawell is responsible for overseeing the day to day operations.
OPERATIONS is the largest part of the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office and most visible. Our goal is to provide professional and courteous service at all times. Operations consists of patrol, investigations, narcotics, marine safety; and various administrative functions such as recruiting, training, evidence, fleet maintenance, internal affairs, and more. It is known to many as the backbone of the Sheriff’s Office. Foremost, the patrol section is the most publicly visible unit and is responsible for responding to calls for service from citizens, conducting preliminary investigations of criminal violation, and detecting and arresting those who violate the law. Operations personnel also assist with detail assignments and special events.
In 2007, the voters of Calaveras County approved an essential ballot Measure which authorized bonds and allowed for the Sheriff’s Office to progress and expand into a new facility. The project includes not only a new Adult Detention Facility, but also a 41,500 square foot Sheriff’s Administration building that will house the main components of the Operations Bureau.
The NEW Sheriff’s Administration facility is slated for completion in 2013.
